Welcome to SIPS

What SIPS is, how the workflow fits together from SQX import to live MT5 monitoring, and where to start.

What is SIPS?

SIPS is portfolio intelligence software for systematic traders who build strategies in StrategyQuant X (SQX). You import your SQX strategies and trade lists, SIPS qualifies them against your own rules, searches for portfolios that combine them well, and — once you trade a portfolio on MT5 — monitors whether it is still behaving the way its history said it would.

It is built for the question that comes after strategy research: which strategies, combined, make a good portfolio — and is it still behaving that way once it’s live?

Tip

New to SIPS? Read Understanding the SIPS Workflow first — every other guide assumes you know how the stages connect.

How SIPS works

Every workspace moves through the same broad workflow. Each stage narrows the field with evidence and writes into the same workspace the next stage reads from. You can stop at any stage — the analysis stages don’t need an MT5 connection.

Import your SQX data

Upload your StrategyQuant X Databank CSV and one trade-list CSV per strategy. SIPS validates every file and, when everything checks out, makes it your active dataset. See Importing SQX Strategies.

Review your qualified strategy library

SIPS automatically checks each imported strategy against your own Strategy rules and shows the full library with rankings, distributions and per-strategy performance. See Strategies.

Build, compare and analyse portfolios

Run Portfolio Builder to search for portfolios that pass your Portfolio rules, compare the retained bank side by side, and open any portfolio for its full analysis — or hand-pick your own in Custom Builder. See Portfolio Builder.

Connect MT5 and monitor live

Pair an MT5 account with the read-only SIPS Bridge to see live performance, limits and behaviour against the portfolio’s own history on your Dashboard. See Connecting an MT5 Account.

Status note

Live MT5 monitoring uses the SIPS Bridge, which is read-only — see Connecting an MT5 Account. The Bridge reports account, trade and performance information back to SIPS; it does not place, modify or execute trades. The separate Trade Copier is the only part of SIPS designed to place trades, and only on accounts you explicitly connect to it.

Core SIPS concepts

Terms used throughout the documentation. Most have their own dedicated guide.

Active dataset

The validated import every page reads from. A new successful import replaces it; the previous one is retained for a short window.

Qualification

The automatic check of every imported strategy against the Strategy rules in your Portfolio Settings — Qualified or Failed.

Retained portfolio bank

The portfolios your latest Portfolio Builder run kept after applying your Portfolio rules.

Bank Reuse

How often a strategy appears across your retained portfolio bank — one signal of how distinctive a portfolio is.

Historical vs Live Behaviour

A factual, ongoing comparison of how a connected account is trading against comparable periods of its own history.

Read-only live monitoring

The SIPS Bridge reports what already happened in your MT5 account. It never places, modifies or executes a trade.

Warning

SIPS is analytical software. It is not a broker or an investment adviser, it does not make trading decisions for you, and historical, backtested or live results never guarantee future performance. See What SIPS Is / What SIPS Is Not.

Software and risk notice. SIPSALGO provides software tools for strategy and portfolio analysis. Trading and investment decisions involve risk, and analytical tools cannot guarantee future performance. Nothing on this page is financial advice or a recommendation to trade.
