Connecting an MT5 Account
Download the read-only SIPS Bridge, attach it in MT5 and let it pair for live monitoring.
Read-only monitoring
The SIPS Bridge is read-only: it reports your MT5 account, positions, trades and history to SIPS. It never places, modifies or executes trades on your MT5 account. Copying trades between accounts is a separate feature — Trade Copier.
What it does
The SIPS Bridge is a small Expert Advisor you attach in your own MT5 terminal. Once paired, SIPS shows your live P/L, open positions, recent trades and your own trading limits on the Dashboard. If you connect it to a SIPS portfolio, SIPS also matches live trades to the portfolio’s strategies by Magic Number and compares live behaviour with the portfolio’s history.
You can connect in two ways:
- Portfolio EA — linked to a portfolio you choose in Portfolio Log, for per-strategy live performance and behaviour.
- Standalone EA — monitors an MT5 account without assigning a portfolio. It gets its own permanent connection ID (for example
G-001).
How to connect
Start the connection
On your Dashboard, click Connect MT5 Account and choose Standalone EA or Portfolio EA. For a Portfolio EA, pick the portfolio in Portfolio Log (or use Connect MT5 Account on a portfolio’s analysis page).
Enter your account details
Enter your MT5 Account Number, your MT5 Server and a Start Syncing From date. Search for your broker, prop firm or server name; the server must match exactly what MT5 shows for the account. Under More Settings you can change your Trading Limits — Profit Target, Max Drawdown and Daily Drawdown (defaults 10% / 10% / 5%). No MT5 password is needed for the Bridge.
Download the SIPS Bridge
Click Create SIPS EA Bridge. The SIPS Bridge Ready screen confirms the account, server and sync date; click Download SIPS Bridge to get a file named like SIPSBridge-v<version>-P<code>.ex5.
Install it in MT5
Copy the file into your terminal’s MQL5/Experts/ folder. In MT5, open Tools → Options → Expert Advisors, tick “Allow WebRequest for listed URL” and add the URL shown on the SIPS Bridge Ready screen (there’s a Copy button). Enable Algo Trading and attach the Bridge to one chart.
Let it pair
The Bridge pairs automatically using a one-time code built into its filename — you never type a code. Attach it within 20 minutes of downloading. It then syncs your account history from your chosen date and continues reporting live. Until it pairs, the connection shows as Pending Setup on your Dashboard.
Terms to know
- Pairing code — a one-time, short-lived code inside the downloaded filename, used automatically on first connection. If it expires, use Edit & Download Fresh Bridge on the Pending Setup card to get a new file; the old file stops working, and no extra connection slot is used.
- Account check — the Bridge only pairs with the account number and server you entered. If they don’t match what MT5 reports, pairing is refused.
- Magic Number mapping — how a live MT5 position is matched to a specific strategy in your portfolio. Trades that can’t be matched are shown as unmapped, never assigned to a strategy by guesswork.
- Start Syncing From — how far back SIPS reads your account’s MT5 history.
- Connection limit — your plan sets how many MT5 connections you can have. A Pending Setup counts; deleting a connection frees its slot.
