Your First Steps
A practical first session: import your SQX data, review qualified strategies, build and compare portfolios.
A practical first session in SIPS, from an empty workspace to your first compared portfolio. You need your StrategyQuant X exports to hand; nothing else has to be set up first.
1. Import your data
Open Data & Imports and choose Import CSV Files. Select one Databank CSV exported from StrategyQuant X and one trade-list CSV per strategy you want to import — each trade file must be named exactly like its strategy in the Databank. You can import fewer strategies than the Databank lists. Click Validate Dataset; SIPS uploads and validates the files and shows Import Complete when your new dataset is active. See Importing SQX Strategies.
2. Review your strategies
Closing the import window takes you to Strategies. Qualification has already run automatically, so you’ll see how many strategies Qualified or Failed against your Strategy rules, distribution charts, six top-five rankings and your full library. Open any strategy’s eye icon for its Strategy Performance page. If you want different qualification rules, change the Strategy tab in Portfolio Settings.
3. Build a portfolio
Open Portfolio Builder, click Run Portfolio Builder, choose a search depth (Recommended is preselected) and start the run. When it finishes you’ll see how many candidates were tested, how many passed your quality rules and how many portfolios were retained.
4. Compare and analyse
Choose Compare Portfolios to open Portfolio Comparison and review the whole retained bank. Click any portfolio’s eye icon to open Portfolio Analysis. To keep a portfolio beyond the next run, save it from Portfolio Log.
5. Optional: connect live
If you trade on MT5, connect the account from your Dashboard with the read-only SIPS Bridge to monitor it live — see Connecting an MT5 Account. This step is optional; everything above works without a live connection.
Tip
Most first-session import problems are a filename that doesn’t exactly match its strategy name in the Databank. The import window tells you which selected files it couldn’t find — see Troubleshooting.
