Portfolio Builder

Search your qualified strategies for portfolios that pass your rules, at Quick, Recommended or Deep depth.

What it does

Portfolio Builder searches your qualified strategies for portfolios that pass every rule in the Portfolio tab of Portfolio Settings — strategies per portfolio, quality minimums, drawdown limits and diversification rules. The portfolios it keeps become your retained portfolio bank, which you then review in Portfolio Comparison.

How to run it

Check readiness

The page shows how many strategies are eligible, how many strategies each portfolio will contain, and whether your Portfolio Settings are ready.

Run Portfolio Builder

If you already have a portfolio bank, SIPS asks you to confirm a new run first. Your current generated portfolios are replaced only after the new run completes successfully; portfolios you saved, built in Custom Builder or connected to MT5 are kept, and a failed run leaves the current bank unchanged.

Choose a search depth

Pick Quick, Recommended (preselected) or Deep — see below.

Wait for the run

The page shows a running timer and a progress bar. There is no percentage, because the search doesn’t report one. You can reload the page — the run’s status is kept. If your strategy rules changed since the last run, SIPS re-qualifies your strategies first.

Review the result

A summary shows Candidates Tested, Passed Quality Rules and Portfolios Retained, with Compare Portfolios and Close.

Choosing a search depth

All three depths run the same engine, the same rules and the same ranking — only how many candidate portfolios are explored differs. Each depth guarantees a minimum number of candidates before the search may stop early, and larger strategy libraries get a proportionally larger search.

  • Quick — the smallest search; roughly 1–2 minutes.
  • Recommended — the balanced default; roughly 3–5 minutes.
  • Deep — the most thorough search; roughly 8–12 minutes.

Times are approximate and depend on the size of your strategy library.

After a run

Continue to Portfolio Comparison to review the retained bank and open any portfolio’s Portfolio Analysis. Each run has its own permanent run number, which you’ll see in portfolio labels in Portfolio Log.

If no combination passes your rules, the run finishes with “No portfolios met the current Portfolio Settings” — loosen the Portfolio rules or import more strategies and try again. If a run fails, you’ll see a clear error and a Retry Build button.

What this page doesn’t do

Portfolio Builder doesn’t produce a single overall “Portfolio Score” — SIPS keeps measures separate rather than collapsing them into one invented number — and it doesn’t tell you which portfolio to trade.

Software and risk notice. SIPSALGO provides software tools for strategy and portfolio analysis. Trading and investment decisions involve risk, and analytical tools cannot guarantee future performance. Nothing on this page is financial advice or a recommendation to trade.
