Importing SQX Strategies

The exact files you need from StrategyQuant X, and how SIPS uploads, validates and imports them.

Files you need

Two kinds of file, both exported from StrategyQuant X:

  • One Databank CSV — the SQX Portfolio Databank export, one row per strategy. SIPS recognises it by its Strategy Name column, not by its filename.
  • One trade-list CSV per strategy — the trade-history export SQX produces for each strategy you want to import.

You don’t have to import every strategy in the Databank. Select trade files only for the strategies you want; SIPS shows an orange note telling you how many Databank strategies won’t be imported, and still lets you continue. Up to 500 strategy files can be imported at once, and your plan sets how many strategies can be loaded at any one time.

Why filenames must match

Each trade file’s name (without the .csv ending) must exactly match that strategy’s Strategy Name in the Databank — that’s how SIPS knows which trades belong to which strategy. There is no fuzzy matching: if SQX added something like (1) to keep a name unique, it must be in the filename too.

As soon as you select files, SIPS checks them in your browser. It tells you if a selected file can’t be found in the Databank (with View details listing the filenames), if the same filename was selected twice, or if the Databank itself repeats a strategy name. These block Validate Dataset until resolved. When everything lines up you’ll see “✓ Files ready for validation”.

The import workflow

Select and match your files

Choose your Databank CSV and your strategy trade files in the import window.

Validate Dataset

SIPS first runs quick server checks: your plan’s strategy limit, and — if you are replacing a dataset — that every strategy currently used by a live or pending MT5 or Trade Copier connection is still included. If either check fails, nothing is uploaded and the message tells you why.

Uploading Files

Your files are uploaded securely with live progress. If any file fails, nothing is validated or imported and you can try again.

Validating Dataset

SIPS checks the file structure and filename matching, recalculates each strategy’s PR Score and compares it with the SQX value, and reconciles trade counts and P/L for the full, in-sample and out-of-sample periods against your Databank.

Import Complete

You’ll see how many strategies and trades were imported and “All Validation Checks Passed”. The new dataset is now your active dataset, qualification runs automatically, and Close takes you to Strategies.

If validation fails

If any validation check fails, the dataset is not imported and your current active dataset stays exactly as it was — the window says how many checks failed. If the import couldn’t be completed for another reason, Retry Import tries again without re-uploading your files. See Troubleshooting for every message and what to do.

Is my data secure?

Your files go to private storage that belongs to your workspace only — they are never made public — using short-lived upload links that only your own signed-in session receives. Other customers can’t see your workspace’s data.
