Dataset Management

How your active dataset, dataset replacement and retention work.

Your active dataset

Your workspace always has one active dataset — the most recent import that passed every validation check. Strategies, qualification, Portfolio Builder and Custom Builder all read from it. The Current Dataset card on Data & Imports shows its strategy count, trade count, last-imported date and status.

Replacing a dataset

Importing again follows the same flow described in Importing SQX Strategies. When validation passes, the new dataset becomes active immediately and the previous one is kept, unchanged, as a retained dataset. If validation fails, nothing changes — your current dataset stays active.

A replacement must include every strategy that is currently in use by a live or pending MT5 connection or Trade Copier setup. If it doesn’t, SIPS refuses the import before uploading anything and names the strategies that are missing, so a running connection never loses the strategies it depends on.

Please note

Switching back to a previous dataset isn’t available in SIPS at the moment. To return to earlier data, import those files again.

How long files are kept

Uploaded import files are intended to be kept for 7 days after a successful import and for 24 hours after a failed or abandoned attempt, and a replaced dataset is retained for 7 days. These are retention policies; your active dataset itself is kept for as long as it is active.

Can I import again?

Yes — there’s no limit on how many times you can import. What your plan limits is how many strategies can be loaded at any one time; strategies already in your active dataset don’t take an extra slot when you re-import them.

If an upload fails partway through, nothing is validated or imported — your selected files stay selected so you can try again. See Troubleshooting for common import messages.
