Troubleshooting

What common import, Portfolio Builder, MT5 and Trade Copier messages mean and what to do.

Common issues with imports, portfolios, MT5 connections and the Trade Copier — what each message means and what to do next.

Databank file not accepted

The Databank slot accepts one genuine .csv file with the SQX Databank structure. “Invalid SQX Databank CSV” or “The required Strategy Name column was not detected” usually means you picked a trade-list export instead of the Databank export, or the header row is missing. Re-export the Portfolio Databank from StrategyQuant X as CSV and select it again.

“Selected strategy files could not be found in the Databank”

A trade file’s name (without .csv) doesn’t exactly match any Strategy Name in your Databank. Click View details to see which files. Check for typos, extra spaces or a missing SQX suffix like (1), and make sure the files come from the same SQX export as the Databank. Selecting the same filename twice, or a Databank that repeats a strategy name, also blocks Validate Dataset.

An orange note saying some Databank strategies “will not be imported” is not an error — it just tells you you’ve selected fewer strategies than the Databank contains.

Strategy limit reached

A red bar says your plan allows a certain number of strategies at any one time. Select fewer trade files, or upgrade your plan from Manage Plan (Billing) using the link in the message.

Replacement is missing live strategies

When you replace your dataset, the new one must include every strategy used by a live or pending MT5 connection or Trade Copier setup. The message lists the missing strategies — add their trade files and try again, or remove the connection that uses them first.

Some files failed to upload

“X of Y file(s) failed to upload. Nothing was validated” means nothing was imported and your current dataset is unchanged. Your files stay selected; try again on a stable connection. If you see that the import session has expired, click Validate Dataset again to upload your selected files again.

“The dataset was not imported: N validation check(s) failed”

SIPS found a problem in the files themselves — for example trade counts or P/L that don’t reconcile with the Databank, or a PR Score that doesn’t match the SQX value. Nothing was imported. Re-export the Databank and trade lists together from the same SQX project and try again; if it keeps failing, contact support with the details below.

“The import could not be completed”

Something interrupted the import after your files were uploaded. Click Retry Import — your files don’t need to be uploaded again. “Already Imported” after a retry means the import had in fact completed; nothing is duplicated.

“Your dataset was imported, but strategy qualification could not be completed”

Your new dataset is active, but the automatic qualification step didn’t finish. Try again from the message; qualification also runs automatically the next time you run Portfolio Builder.

“No portfolios met the current Portfolio Settings”

No combination of your qualified strategies passed every Portfolio rule. Check how many strategies qualified on Strategies, then loosen the relevant rules in Portfolio Settings (for example drawdown limits, correlation or minimum markets) or import more strategies. If a run fails with an error, use Retry Build.

MT5 connection stays “Pending Setup”

  • Check the Bridge is attached to a chart, Algo Trading is enabled, and the WebRequest URL from the SIPS Bridge Ready screen is allowed in Tools → Options → Expert Advisors.
  • The pairing code in the filename expires 20 minutes after download. Use Edit & Download Fresh Bridge on the Pending Setup card and attach the new file.
  • If pairing is refused, the account number or server you entered doesn’t match what MT5 reports. The server must match MT5 exactly — edit the connection and download a fresh Bridge.

See Connecting an MT5 Account.

“Unmapped trading detected”

The connected account has trades whose Magic Number doesn’t belong to any strategy in the linked portfolio — for example manual trades (Magic Number 0) or another EA. They’re shown separately and never assigned to a strategy. See Live Portfolio Detail.

Trade Copier account won’t connect

Check the broker server, MT5 account number and MT5 trading password (your MT5 details, not your SIPS sign-in), then use Try Again. If Connect Account isn’t available, you may have used all the Trade Copier accounts your plan includes — deleting an account frees its slot.

A trade wasn’t copied

Check the Slave on the Trade Copier pages: Mapping Required means a symbol needs a manual mapping; Paused means new trades aren’t copied; and with Broker Alignment a trade isn’t copied if a valid size can’t be calculated for that broker. Pending orders are never copied. Copy Performance and Activity show rejected and missed copies. See Trade Copier.

Reporting an issue

Signed in, use Help → Support Request to create a support ticket; you’ll get a reference number by email. It helps to include:

  • The page and the exact message you saw
  • The approximate time it happened
  • For imports: whether it failed while selecting files, uploading, validating or qualifying, and roughly how many strategies you selected
  • For MT5 or Trade Copier: the connection or account label (never your password)
  • Whether it happens every time or only sometimes
